Girl of the Year Reviews: Lea Clark (2016): Lea's Celebration Outfit

Cecilia Alvaros: Making Lea's clothes look better than she ever did.
Lea Clark. AG's worst attempt at ethnicity. Her movie's racist, AG blocked someone on Youtube (thedollrookie) for pointing out their misrepresentation of Brazil, and they think they can get away with it all by making Lea 1/8 Brazilian and barely the color of cooked oatmeal. Oh, and she also looks a lot like McKenna, so her snark name is TropiKenna. However, I like some stuff in her collection, including her celebration dress. I got it for Cecilia, who's half Brazilian.

A note before we get started: AG labels this as as dress that "reminds Lea of the traditional white dresses that some Brazilian women wear." As Nethilia of American Girl Outsider pointed out, it's actually based on the dresses that Afro-Brazilian women who practice Candomble wear. Don't be afraid of culture, AG.

All of these are phone pics because I lost the cable for my camera.1

It doesn't quite match the dress, but it's okay.
Headband: The headband is made of three strings of beads: two that alternate two blue and two light blue, and one that goes two yellow, two lime green, and two green. There's elastic at the back to help it go on the doll's head. B. You do your job.

I'm proud of my matching skills.
Smol interlude! Cecilia has pierced ears, as do most of my moddies. I found these butterfly earrings in my stash. They're this bluish greenish color, matching the dress, and they're butterflies, which match the shoes. They're outlined in gold, matching both things.

The main part of the outfit, as dresses tend to be.
Dress: The dress is white with green, blue, and gold embroidery on the bodice and skirt. It's a lightweight cotton.

Fancy~
The bodice is your standard bodice. It has green, blue and gold embroidery in paisley designs on it. There's an attached gold belt at the waist.

Skirt, skirt, it's a skirt.
The skirt is a circle skirt with three tiers. The first one is attached at the waist, and the bottom ones are attached to panels attached to the waist. Each tier has a line of gold topstitching and triangles on the hem. The middle tier has green triangles and the bottom and top tiers have blue.

Ego tags!
There's a Lea Clark ego tag on the left side of the skirt. I'm gonna pass it off as a clothing brand. Lea Clark. By American Girl.

The dress velcroes up the back, but I didn't get a picture. A. It's a beautiful dress and I love it.

Bubberfly.
Shoes: The shoes are gold sandals with a platform sole and straps at the toes and ankles. There's velcro on the back, attached to the ankle strap. There's a butterfly with a rhinestone in the middle on the toe strap. While there's not any butterflies on the dress, it still matches pretty well. I like it. It makes it seem like the shoes were purchased separately from the dress, which is more realistic anyhow.

Another one.
There's an ego tag in the left shoe. It's really inconvenient. I should cut it off.

Side.
Between the shoe and the actual sole is about a quarter inch of braided cord stuff. It gives it a sort of beachy feel.
Sole.
The sole is a textured beige plastic with the AG logo molded into it. B+

Overall Rating: A. It's a really pretty dress.
