Margaret Mildred “Kit” Kittredge is Book Kit with a few modern tweaks. She loves writing about the happenings of the gang, and blogging is a great tool for her because she can share her stories with a lot more people than just the inhabitants of the house. She still writes in a newspaper style and reads Wikipedia. She’ll read anything she can get a hold of when she’s bored enough. Kit’s Head of the Gang, as the first. She and Ruthie can get a little (a little) environmentalist together. They share a room (and a bed), because they're all lovergirls on each other. Ruthie dragged her into Ever After High kicking and screaming, but she likes Cerise. She’s less modern than her girl, but still mods around sometimes. She’s the most tomboy in the gang--wears skirts to free her legs, and sometimes enjoys twirling around in a circle skirt. And she’s not really a lady when in a skirt, either. Kit loves the outside, going on adventures and treehouse hideouts and Robin Hood…she’s claimed my freestanding treehouse thing from when I was little as hers. Ruthie came on Giftmas of 2010, a gift from my grandma. At first I wasn't quite sure what to do with her. She was originally historical like Kit, but Piper came with moddie things and well…she modded herself out. Basically screamed “new clothes!” and went away with it.
Ruth Ann “Ruthie” Smithens loves celebrities and fashion trends (modernized book!Ruthie). She still dresses mostly historical though. She’s pretty girly, but isn’t afraid to get her skirt dirty. And she isn’t all skirts all the time, either. Ruthie has a lot of white-girl-Starbucks-Instagram-my-lunch squealiness when it comes to anything big happening with things she cares about. She’s also a big time shipper. She and Kit are the only ones in the gang coming from the same place, Cincinnati. (ETA July 8, 2016: Not any more! AJ and Cecilia are from the same place too.) They share a room (and a bed), because lovergirls. Kit’s made her care about the earth a little more, and Ruthie dragged her into Ever After High. I bought Piper with my Giftmas money near the end of January 2013. She’s a Saige, but Saige is a weird name and I like Piper. The “Saige” personality was literally exactly like mine at the time, but obviously I’ve changed from my 10-year-old self. In December 2014 she got extra freckling.
Piper Adelene Copeland is an artist. She draws, and she paints, and….that’s the extent of her arts, yeah. She loves ballooning and the yearly Balloon Festival in her hometown, Albuquerque. She loves those crazy long song titles that have nothing to do with the song. It drives her up the wall when people say Lying Is The Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off is “too long” (it’s Panic! what do you want). Also, that song is not as dirty as it sounds. Try: Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn’t Get Sued. Or an actual Panic! song, There's a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of It Yet. Piper collects pins even though they're out of scale most of the time. She has a pet border collie named Rembrandt, but she mostly calls Remy. She’s Head of the Mod Squad as the first true mod (not that there is much of a squad yet…). And best of all, she’s a Libra. I got Ivy in July 2014 for my birfday, after the announcement she and the other sidekicks were leaving, and after this one picture on Playthings of Bean’s Ivy in Julie’s birthday dress--I had to have her.
Ivy Ling is a sweet, shy, gentle, innocent girl. She’s the cinnamon roll of the group, too good for this world, too pure… A lot of jokes go right over her head, but she doesn’t mind because it would probably ruin her if she did know what it meant. Under all that sweetness and fluff, though, is an activeness unmatched to anyone I know. She loves climbing on things and running and doing gymnastics…she has a lot of energy. Blood grosses her out terribly, and veins and the possibly of breaking an artery--it just kills her to think about it. So she doesn’t. It’s a good thing we don’t have school here, because she’d suffer through biology. She likes X-Men even though some of it’s out of period, but you live with moddies you’re gonna have a moddie time. She’s just gotta get a trenchcoat and she can Jubilee cosplay. Kaya arrived July 2015 because of my birthday money.
Kaya’aton’my is from the past, but she acts pretty modern round these parts. She’s a major cartoon nerd. Pixar, Sailor Moon, Adventure Time, Steven Universe—animation amazes her, and she loves it. She loves the magical girl genre (it’s literally called “magical girl”--how does that not sound cool?), and Steven Universe is one of her favorite shows ever. It’s important to note that while Kaya acts mod, she’s pretty much a time traveler. She’ll wear whatever she feels like, from any time period, as long as she’s allowed. Time isn’t really real in the gang; they act like when they’re from, for the most part, while living in some sort of space-time hole. Kaya’s not really traveling through time since there’s no time to travel through. Kaya, while not trying to make all the clothes in the house look good, spends time riding her horse Crumbs (formerly known as Picasso). Cecilia Quinn "LiLi" Alvaros is AJ's cousin. Her uncle on her mom's side is AJ's father, and is black. Her dad is Brazilian. She comes off as a girly girl. She likes wearing skirts as opposed to pants, and since she has regular-sized ear piercings, wears a lot of my earrings. She also likes doing her hair and exploring what she can do with her curls. She's not as girly as Ruthie, though. She'll fangirl over things, sure, but the squealing is kept to a minimum. She's a gamer. She likes Zelda and Pokemon, mainly, and sometimes the Marioverse. Especially Princess Peach. She also really digs Ms. Marvel. Yay representation! (Even if Marvel is seriously failing with Captain America right now.) Also, Harley Quinn is cute. Oh yeah, she's bi. It's not a big deal, but it does mean she gets to join the queer club with Kit and Ruthie. Cecilia is one of the more well-versed-in-the-internets of the gang. She even has her own Instagram account! Okay, she doesn't *hate* men, she just doesn't want them in her bed. And yeah, she is a feminist, and not a white feminist. Okay, she's white, and a feminist, but she's not a white feminist. Get it? Sam's era is pretty great, mostly because she's rich af. Gingerbread cookies and paper giftmas decorations that only last a week and pretty porcelain dolls...she loves it all.
